PRESS RELEASE -CAR PARK CONSULTAION UPDATE
As you will be aware the Parish Council has been in consultation with Craven District Council re the transfer of the car park asset from CDC to EWEPC for some time.
Management indicated support for the request to transfer the car park. The PC put its formal request in writing - for submission to the CDC Policy Committee.
If this is upheld, then maintenance and usage of the car park
will continue as is for the foreseeable future.
For this reason, it was felt most likely that the car park asset would be transferred to the Parish Council – and would not require any form of Trust management.
We are now awaiting
the outcome – hopefully positive - so that Heads of Terms etc can then be drawn up for agreement.
With reference to the field this is more complex.
If we wish to acquire the field as a community space the Parish Council has to provide a
strong argument for acquiring the field and put forward a sound business case / outline use, needs, management details etc alongside any formal request to acquire the field. There is support for this amongst the community – and at present there would
appear to be no other suitable space. Whilst it is anticipated that the decision re the field will rest with the new authority (after 2023) the Clerk, Working Party and others will start to look at this shortly, this will include talks with YDNPA to gather
their views on proposed use of the field.
There are a number of parishioners wishing to be involved in this action. The Parish Council thinks that it is imperative to ‘get the ball rolling’ and the Chair will be in contact with those who
have expressed an interest, once the outcome of the car park submission is known.
Thank you for your continued support
